Providing safe and cost effective primary, acute and aged care services to resident of the Portland district.

Portland District Health services the Glenelg Shire with major population centres being the city of Portland and the townships of Heywood, Narrawong, Tyrendarra and Nelson. The population which we service is approximately 16,739.

Our vision is that Portland District Health will deliver excellence in health services through continually challenging ourselves to do better and creatively meeting the needs of the community by listening, living and working together.

Our Volunteers
Volunteers play a vital role within Portland District Health.

At present we have 166 registered volunteers with Portland District Health averaging a combined total of 745 hours per month through various programs that assist the patients, clients, residents and staff.

There are many areas that use volunteers to enhance their programs.

Portland District Health appoints General Surgeon

The Royal Australian College of Surgeons has given Portland District Health approval to proceed with the appointment of Mr Naidoo.

Dr Naidoo, a South African trained General Surgeon with 10 years experience is expected to commence duty with PDH in early September. As a General Surgeon he has a special interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery and diabetic foot care and has current surgical responsibilities in Durban, South Africa for Gynaecological and laparoscopic surgery, vascular surgery and aortic aneurysm, ENT/ laryngectomy and Cardiothoracic surgery.

He is involved in clinical teaching of interns, medical officers and registrars and has lectured at the University of Durban.

Dr Naidoo replaces Mr Das who has operated on Wednesdays for the past 20 years at PDH. ...[Go to full story]
