One of Australia’s most experienced Aboriginal singer/songwriters, authors and film makers will be guest speaker at this year’s Portland District Health annual general meeting on Thursday November 12.

Richard Frankland was born in Melbourne but raised mostly in south-west Victoria and currently lives in Narrawong and travels for his business

He has written, directed and produced more than 50 videos, documentary and film projects. He has also played and recorded with several bands and performed at major community events.

Mr Frankland is also planning to undertake his PhD on the subject of lateral violence.

The AGM will start at 7.30pm in the Richmond Henty Hotel Blue Room.

Mr Frankland speaking role continues PDH’s strengthening ties with local Indigenous communities.

Portland District Health works with local Aboriginal organisations through the Indigenous Advisory Committee to continue the work started in the community to close the gap on health outcomes for Aboriginal people with the adoption of the Koolin Balit strategy.

PDH also employs an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce officer, Jan Huggers, and this year held a NAIDOC flag raising ceremony and a Koori careers and aspirations day.
