Portland businesses will keep patients at Portland District Health eating healthy and tasty meals for the next 12 months.

Local businesses will also continue to provide security and gardening services for PDH.

Four Portland-based firms have been announced as the successful candidates after recent tendering processes.

Halliday’s Butchers has again won the tender to supply meat to the health service while Admella’s Fruit and Veg has for the first time won the tender to supply fruit and vegetables.

Director of Corporate Services Ros Jones said PDH was committed to a tendering system that provided the best value for money and the best quality goods and services for patients, aged care residents and clients.

“It is a stipulation of the tender that only best quality product and ingredients are to be used,” Ms Jones said.

“We regularly receive praise for the quality of our meals and a key ingredient in that success is the supply of fresh and good quality products,” she said.

The hospital serves an average of 124,550 meals per year.

PDH has also extended its security tender with Taipan Security Portland and gardening tender with Alan and Jenny Rivett after going through the tendering process.

Ms Jones said PDH supported local firms where possible.

“We have an open competitive tendering system and encourage local firms to participate,” she said.

“PDH always strives to engage with the local community and is pleased that in these instances Portland firms have provided the best tenders.”
