Portland District Health annual charity golf day has raised $16,000 for a planned women’s and children’s health precinct.

The event on March 20 was a resounding success with strong support from the community and sponsors.

PDH community engagement and fundraising officer, Carolyn Malseed said it was a terrific outcome thanks to the community support.

There was excellent community involvement and a great feel about the whole event,Ms Malseed said.

There were 72 golfers take part and 110 attended a dinner where the comedy act The Nelson Twins provided entertainment.

For the first time a PDH trophy was presented to the leading team consisting of at least two PDH staff members or volunteers. It was won by the 'Scrubbers' team, consisting of Julie Sealey, Deb Magann, Susan Fechner and Clint Foster. They were also placed first overall for the event.

Ms Malseed said the charity golf day was now an important event on the community and fund-raising calendar for PDH.

The committee would like thank all the PDH community who provided us with support for the event, along with the local and wider community, who enabled so much to be raised for an important new initiative at PDH, Ms Malseed said.

The PDH organising committee for the event consisted of Ms Malseed, Cindy Huppatz, Ros Alexander, Pam Thomas, Jan Whyte and Deb Magann along with Portland Golf Club committee members Kevin Tobin, David Potter and Julie Errey.
