Timboon & District Healthcare Service is situated in the rural township of Timboon in southwest Victoria, 10 minutes from the Shipwreck coast and the Port Campbell National Park featuring the tourist icon of the Twelve Apostles. We service the southern section of the Corangamite Shire and adjoining areas of the Moyne Shire, an area of some 2000 square kilometres with a population of 8,000.
Features of the catchment area are its rural nature - with the dairy industry predominant and a growing tourist industry along the world-renowned Great Ocean Road. More recently the discovery of large natural gas reserves has created a gas processing industry, which is also contributing to the thriving local economy.
Timboon lies just inland from the Great Ocean Road in the heart of Victoria’s prosperous grazing and dairy country. Timboon and the surrounding districts are fast growing a reputation for gourmet fare. Locally we have access to some of the region’s best fruit, meat and dairy products including top-quality cheeses, ice-cream, chocolate, wine, beer, strawberries and smoked eel. The Corangamite region is also home to a number of historic townships, country pubs, rainforests, volcano craters, lakes, sites of Koori significance, 19th century mansions and old bluestone buildings.
Nestled in a steep gully formed by Power’s Creek the town is the commercial hub of a broader farming district and coastal towns to the south. Natural bushland and a network of reserves provide ideal habitat for the resident koalas.
