In the past financial year more than 200 volunteers have contributed 15,000 hours of service across Portland District Health.

In the past financial year more than 200 volunteers have contributed 15,000 hours of service across Portland District Health.

On 11 December, PDH says thanks to those volunteers with a sit-down barbecue dinner being held in their honour.

Some of the major areas of volunteer service at PDH are Telecare, Telelink, community transport, National Diabetes Supply Scheme, palliative care, hospital care, Harbourside Lodge, Meals on Wheels, pastoral care, stroke support, laughter group, water exercise for arthritis and the Consumer Advisory Committee

Seventy four volunteers are expected to attend the dinner.

Manager of Volunteers Carolyn Malseed said the contribution made by volunteers made life easier for every client, resident and patient of PDH.

We salute our loyal team of volunteers for the great commitment they make every year and this dinner is one way to say thanks,she said.

Ms Malseed said PDH was always looking for more volunteers and interested people could contact her on 55 210333.

Those volunteers who contribute to our organisation sharing their time, skills and life experiences with us find it very rewarding,she added.
