Portland Helipad A Step Closer

Monday, 26 October 2015
Work on the proposed emergency helipad project at Portland District Health is nearing completion with an offical opening ceremony expected early December.

PDH Chief Executive Officer, Chris Giles said work would start on installing four flashing solar powered traffic signals on 26 October 2015.

The signals will notify motorists and pedestrians using Bentinck Street that a helicopter is crossing the road.

Light have also been embedded at the Ploughed Field to guide the helicopter pilots as they come in for landings, the power connection is under the road and we expect that will be completed in the next few days.

All other aspects of the helipad project had been completed.

The helipad site will be known as the Victorian Police Blue Ribbon foundation Helipad, in recognition of a fallen policeman and the $100,000 fundraising effort the foundation has made to the project.
