Portland District Health’s integrated health consulting suites is now offering a full range of services to the community.

Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney officially opened the refurbished former primary and community health precinct on April 22, praising the development as a convenient 'one-stop-shop' for a range of community and allied health services.

The suites are already popular with patients and could lead to expanded services in Portland.

The $485,000 revamp of the Portland District Health Consulting Suite was funded by the State Government and has integrated specialist and community consulting services and programs.

It has also created more rooms for visiting specialists and it is hoped these services can be expanded over coming months.

Doctors, specialists, allied health and nursing staff are now consulting from the one convenient area.

The suites consist of 18 consultation rooms, two physio treatment rooms, two medical treatment rooms along with an open designed large reception and waiting room.

The range of services offered at the suites is impressive.

Services already consolidated into the suites include speech therapy, diabetes education, psychology services, dietitians, drug and alcohol services, cancer support and a wide range of specialist doctors both local and visiting.

The easy-to-access health hub is a major boost for local community and allied health services and provides patients with more comfort, safety and privacy.

Its location next to Active Health Portland helps consolidate and integrate primary care services offered by PDH, meaning a more efficient workplace for staff and better outcomes for patients.

The successful tender for the redevelopment was G.R Carr Building Contractors Pty. Ltd and the project was overseen by a management committee that included consumer representatives.

Ms Tierney praised PDH for completing the project to such a high standard and thanked the staff and community for its patience during the construction phase.
