International Nurses Day / National Volunteers Week

Tuesday, 12 May 2015
Portland District Health will celebrate the hard work and high quality care provided by its team of nurses and the contributions of its volunteers with special functions on Tuesday, May 12.

As part of International Nurses Day, PDH will hold an afternoon tea in the dining room at 3pm and hear from four nurses about their journeys to Portland.

Acting Director of Nursing Erin Barker said there would also be activities, including a crossword puzzle based on the 1960 Nurses Dictionary, which will include terms not used today and terms where their meaning has changed, and a captioning a nurse cartoon competition.

Earlier in the day, PDH will hold a morning tea in the staff training room as part of National Volunteering Week from 10.30am.

Volunteering Australia has adopted the theme `Give Happy, Live Happy’ for this year's event.

More than six million Australians volunteer each year and PDH has more than 150 volunteers on its books.
