Funds raised by the Portland Cancer Council Unit (PCCU) from a number of events have been delivered to PDH Chemo Unit for new equipment.

PCCU raised $3650 from its final two fundraising events from last year - its annual shopping spree and its spring carnival Melbourne Cup Day function.

The money will be used for purchasing equipment for measureing vital signs in patients.

The machine will be used for taking blood pressures and pulses.

The decision to help out the chemotherapy unit specifically came from its increased workload and a desire to help out locally.

In the past PCCU has directed its fundraising towards cancer research but lending a helping hand locally is now something that is on its radar.

The Cancer Council changed the rules, all the money used to go directly to Melbourne and cancer research, but now can nominated to donate locally.

Jenny stated the community have responded positively seeing the funds used locally.

Board of Management and staff at PDH would like to thank the efforts of Jenny Craig, Marlene Tait and the Portland Cancer Council committee for raising much needed funds for the PDH Chemotherapy Unit.
