Listening to Lavers Hill
An exciting new project is underway at Lavers Hill.
Otway Health and Community Services has started a process that will involve listening to everyone in the community to discover people’s needs and priorities.
Director of Community Services Maria Szybiak said
“We have developed an extensive community consultation plan which involves representatives from business, community and other agencies in Lavers Hill and the local surrounding area. From listening to these people we will be able to determine what they need to satisfy their health and wellbeing.”
Geelong-based organisation, Fi Mercer Coaching, is managing the consultation process. Fi Mercer has had extensive experience in researching and planning in rural and regional areas,
“We have a passion for rural communities and understand the issues that may impact upon them… we are organising the consultation phase and are keen to talk to as many people as possible.”

In Brief
Otway Health and Community Services is one of the first three Multipurpose Services established in Victoria. We commenced operation on 1 January 1995 and provide community health, hospital, aged accommodation, child care centre, adult education, neighbourhood house, rental units for older people (Seamist Villas), palliative care, community (district) nursing, allied health and home based community care services to people residing in our catchment area.
The area covered by Otway Health and Community Services is on the coastal side of the Otway Ranges including the townships of Lavers Hill, Beech Forest and Horden Vale, and extending along the coast from Apollo Bay to Wye River. Home and Community Care Services, including home care, property maintenance and delivered meals extend even further to cover the southern part of the Colac Otway Shire.
