Training Website
The Home and Community Care (HACC) Training Program provides professional development training programs to community service providers to enhance their capacity to support frail older people, people with disabilities and carer respite. The professional development training enables staff with knowledge and practice skills to provide support that enhances the individual’s well being and improves the clients capacity to live independently in their home.
Aims:
The aims of the HACC Training Program are:
- to provide a comprehensive, coordinated and integrated range of professional development programs that will enhance the growth in knowledge and skill of the HACC workforce to meet the service provision needs of the communities.
- to provide training that enables continued best practice service that promotes client independence at home and in the community, thereby enhancing the clients quality of life.
The professional development training included in the annual training calendar is informed through HACC agencies in
- The annual training needs analysis survey
- Annual Training Provision Planning Day
- The quarterly HACC Training Advisory Committee meetings
- The Department of Health Community Programs Strategic Direction.
Target Groups
The HACC training target groups are inclusive of all Community HACC funded agencies but not limited to
- Community Nursing Programs
- Community Allied/ Primary Care Programs
- Community Council Home Care Programs
- Pensioner based Supportive Residential Services
- Carer Respite and Day Activity Programs
- Aboriginal and Torres strait islander Programs
- Dementia specific HACC funded providers
- HACC funded Ethnic Service Programs
Non-HACC agency staff are welcome to apply to attend HACC training as full fee paying participants. Priority for attendance is given to HACC funded participants from the Barwon South West Region.
BSWR HACC agencies are encouraged to participate in the quarterly Training Advisory Group Meetings as representatives of their generic group of service programs. For more information HACC programs are invited to contact the BSWR HACC training co-ordinator at hacc@barwonhealth.org.au.
The BSWR HACC Training Advisory Committee operates under an agreed Terms of Reference as guided by the Department of Health Home and Community Care Guidelines (2003).
